1961 Australia to England Ron Flockhart Air Record attempt cover. (Eustis 1444).

The route for the attempt was going to be Sydney – Darwin – Jakarta – Singapore – Rangoon – Calcutta – Karachi – Bahrain – Beirut – Athens.

Ron Flockhart (1923 – 1962) the Scottish racing driver, left Sydney on 28 February in a Mustang fighter G-AKRD United Dominions in an attempt on the solo record of 127 hours set by Jim Broadbent in 1937.

He called at Darwin, Jakarta, Singapore, Rangoon, Calcutta, Karachi, Bahrain, Beirut and arrived at Athens on 3 March with 20 hours in hand to break the record. Engine problems and bureaucratic delays caused him to abandon the record attempt.

Flockhart carried 7 covers which he signed and posted upon arrival in London.
