Cover cancelled WAU 15 AUG35 818PM and backstamped MADANG 17AU35 New Guinea.
Early on 17 August 1935 pilot Orme Denny in a Guinea Airways For Tri-Motor VH-UBI left Port Moresby for Wau. At Wau he transferred to a Fox Moth VH-UQR and flew to the new aerodrome at Madang being the first pilot to land there.
Mail was cancelled 15 August at Wau but bad weather delayed the flight until 17th. 70 covers were carried from Wau to Madang.
