New Zealand 1931 Gisborne-Hastings signed cover. Air Mails of New Zealand p28.
Cover cancelled Christchurch 530PM 14 FEB31 and Hastings 16MR31 bearing purple cachet and pilot’s signature.
Following the inaugural flight on 10 March Gisborne Air Transport took over the Desoutter of Mr G Nicholls of Gisborne and operated this in conjunction with the DH Cabin Moth. The timetable was altered for the return flight but the outward flight left Gisborne at 0645 reaching Hastings at 0800 as before. The purple cachet was also used on newspapers. Cover authenticated on rear.
